When Stiggenasty rolled out on a skateboard last November with the single “Roadkill,” followed by “(Just Like) Arcadia,” he was beginning to unwrap a birthday gift he had given himself the year before.

“I wanted to record music that I truly love — music that means something to me,” he said at the time, adding with conviction: “If not a solo record now, then never.”

With that, Stig Pedersen — bassist of legendary Danish rock band D-A-D — officially debuted under his old nickname Stiggenasty after more than 40 years as a songwriter, lyricist, and (many would argue) the visual focal point of Denmark’s most iconic rock export.
